Valerie: This an interesting question, because for maybe about five years in WAMM we tried to define those words, and make a distinction between awareness and consciousness. We never could do that. Some people would talk about awareness as being an awareness of something that hurt, or their suffering. Some people would talk about awareness as in the self, the place where we observe from.
David: In the realm of consciousness, I understand that there are many subtle (and many not so subtle) distinctions that one can make when defining levels of awareness, but I just mean it in its simplest sense–your basic sense of “I”. What do you think happens to that after death?
